Karim Benzema is hoping for a bumper pay rise and two-year contract at Real Madrid amid links with Premier League clubs Manchester United and Arsenal, according to reports in Spain. The Ballon d’Or winner is yet to extend his deal with the La Liga giants beyond next June and has been linked with a big-money move.
United and Arsenal are both understood to be interested in signing Benzema if he becomes a free agent. The prolific striker can begin holding discussions with foreign clubs in January ahead of a free transfer in the summer.
Madrid remain keen to extend the contract of the 35-year-old but there is distance between their offer and Benzema’s demands. There is apparently no evidence that talks are active, prompting speculation that he could depart the Bernabeu before 2023-24.
Benzema wants a fresh deal that would take him until the end of the 2024-25 campaign. The former France international is also demanding that he receives a huge pay rise that would see him become Los Blancos’ highest-paid star, leaping above the former Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard.

That is according to El Nacional, who claim Real president Florentino Perez remains ‘calm’ about the situation. However, Benzema wants to be properly remunerated for his form in the Spanish capital. If he is not, he could seek a departure.
The report continues that Man Utd and Arsenal are both interested in Benzema and are monitoring the situation ahead of the summer. United need a striker after axing Cristiano Ronaldo in November, while the Gunners are seeking to replace Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian could miss a large portion of the remainder of the Premier League season.
Injuries have hampered Benzema’s 2022-23, with him playing just seven times in La Liga. But he has still struck seven goals in that time.

Karim BenzemaThe former Lyon man dragged Real to a Champions League triumph as captain last season and scored a remarkable 44 goals across all competitions. His form earned him the first Ballon d’Or of his career but he was then forced to pull out of the France squad for the World Cup through injury.
France lost the final to Argentina. Benzema, who has played 617 times for Real, has since retired from international football and could now seek the final big move of his career.
United and Arsenal both have Benzema on their shortlists but could go for fresher options, especially with both needing reinforcements in January. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is believed to be liked by both clubs.
